Adelina Marini
At 1130 CET will start the session in #Davos with US Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner about the outlook and challenges for the US economy. The issue is of great importance because the American economy is finding it very hard to go back on the growth path, unemployment has been high for 3 years now and on top of all this there are presidential elections in November. Here in the Free Talk Corner you can watch a live coverage of the session with Mr Geithner. And I wonder a few things: will there be criticism toward Europe for the eurozone debt crisis? How often will China be mentioned in the debate?

Adelina Marini #davos #WEF US Treasury Secretary foresees a 2-3% growth for the American economy but he put that prediction in the context of the developments in Europe. But he underlined that there are no Oracles in economy. 27 January 2012 11:42
Adelina Marini Quite amusing is the approach in the #davos session with Tim Geithner, US Treasury Secretary, who is alone and practically it is something like an interview with @FareedZakaria, CNN anchor. The feeling of interview and exclusivity is growing additionally by the fact that they speak predominantly about what President Obama outlined in his #SOTU address this year, of which euinside is to write later. 27 January 2012 11:55
Adelina Marini As expected, Europe was a central topic in #Geihtner's session in #davos. He said, though, that unless Europe would build stronger and more effective firewalls, demonstrates political will to do that, then the IMF could play a supportive and constructive role but not as a substitute for Europe's response. 27 January 2012 12:01
