Adelina Marini #WEBS15vienna @sebastiankurz, Austria FM, said EU should focus more on the Western Balkan refugee route
27 August 2015 09:38
Adelina Marini #WEBS15vienna @sebastiankurz: I hope we'll be able to find a European solution to the refugee crisis
27 August 2015 09:39
Adelina Marini #WEBS15vienna Frank Walter Steinmeir: Let's not forget also why we have launched the Berlin process - to accelerate the accession of the Western Balkans to the EU and to resolve all the conflicts in the region
27 August 2015 09:42
Adelina Marini #WEBS15vienna Steinmeir: We need to find an agreement on the fair distribution of refugees
27 August 2015 09:44
Adelina Marini #WEBS15vienna Steinmeir: The transit countries are facing a special burden. Yesterday we've decided to allocate 1 million euros for Serbia and Macedonia
27 August 2015 09:45
Adelina Marini #WEBS15vienna @JHahnEU: All the 28 member states should work together. Those that are not affected should not stay aside because only in a few months other countries could be affected
27 August 2015 09:53
Adelina Marini #WEBS15vienna Ivica #Dacic, #Serbia FM: I'd like to call on us, those who represent the Western Balkans, to stop behaving in a way that once annually we talk about our future but the rest of the time we're talking about a return to the past
27 August 2015 09:57
Adelina Marini #WEBS15vienna Ivica Dacic: Before you spoke that the most asylum-seekers were coming from the Western Balkans but it should be clear that now all the migrants are coming in our countries from the EU
27 August 2015 10:01
Adelina Marini #WEBS15vienna Dacic: #Greece, #Bulgaria, #Hungary but especially Greece need to be part of the Berlin process
27 August 2015 10:04
Adelina Marini #WEBS15vienna: I share the position of our Serbian colleagues that such a meeting should have taken place much earlier
27 August 2015 10:09
Adelina Marini #WEBS15vienna Poposki: Unless we agree among europeans and that would include the candidate countries there will be no viable and sustainable solution
27 August 2015 10:11
Adelina Marini #WEBS15vienna: We have to think about a Marshal plan for the most affected countries
27 August 2015 10:23
Adelina Marini #WEBS15vienna Steinmeir: I have nothing against a case by case expansion of the Berlin process but this process should not be overburdened. Not everything that is happening in the Balkans should be part of the Berlin process
27 August 2015 10:25
Adelina Marini #WEBS15vienna: Refugees need to remain as close as possible to the countries of origin to be able to return when the conflicts in their countries are over
27 August 2015 10:29
Adelina Marini #WEBS15vienna @sebastiankurz: We need to be self critical because it's a shame when a EU member state is letting thousands of refugees to a non-EU country
27 August 2015 10:43
Adelina Marini #WEBS15vienna Vesna #Pusic, FM #Croatia: Our position is that if it can't resolve it at its source the EU should resolve the problem where it is currently situated. This is Greece, Macedonia and Serbia. This should happen by providing people (experts) and money. The principle to let these people go through, thus transferring the problem elsewhere, is not a solution. Croatia will not build fences along its border
27 August 2015 13:16
Adelina Marini WEBS15vienna Asked what she thought about those countries that are building fences to protect themselves from the refugees Vesna Pusic said: "Nothing good"

#Croatian daily Vecernji list reports that a solution has been found to the problem with the opening of chapter 23 in the negotiations with #Serbia. That there is a political agreement yesterday reported EU commissioner Johannes Hahn (Austria, EPP). With the solution all Croatian demands have been met - not to apply the law on universal jurisdiction in the processing of war crimes, full cooperation with the Hague tribunal and respect for national minorities following the international standards. This is still to be confirmed officially by all sides euinsi.de/N2Cl

On the occasion of his visit today in #Greece #Russia President Vladimir #Putin has published in the English-language Kathimerini daily a detailed op-ed where he makes, as it seems, an 'indecent proposal' to the EU: "I am convinced we should draw appropriate conclusions from the events in Ukraine and proceed to establishing, in the vast space stretching between the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, a zone of economic and humanitarian cooperation based on the architecture of equal and indivisible security". The text does not make it clear whether Mr Putin is proposing the EU and Russia to distribute in a Crimean way the territories in this "vast space" or he means everyone to forget the Ukrainian developments for the sake of mutually beneficial economic cooperation. Further on in the op-ed the Russian president reminds Europe that it is facing a growing competition from "other power centres in the contemporary world" pointing to the Pacific region where the US has strong interests. The #IMF has published its debt sustainability report on #Greece with new projections and proposals ahead of the key #Eurogroup meeting today which is expected to bridge the differences with the euro area on the restructuring of the Greek debt. According to the IMF, the proposed by the Eurogroup measures, like extension of maturities and payment deferrals would not be sufficient, therefore it is proposing also fixing interest rates. These three measures combined would reduce the Greek debt by 53% of GDP by 2040, the Fund believes. You can read the entire report here euinsi.de/Pwwo

Adelina Marini #Greece The fact that the #Eurogroup ended early this morning is suggesting there is an agreement. And there is - both on the next tranche and the debt reduction which ensures IMF will be on board with the funding. Details on the agreement can be read here in the statement after the meeting euinsi.de/ZR0U
